When 42-year-old Jacqui McDonald heard about Jamie Oliver’s business venture she thought it was a great opportunity to try something different. Little did she know how it would change her life.

When Jacqui joined in April 2009, shortly after Jamie at Home was launched, she still had a full-time job as a Newsletter Editor in a company reading medical documents for newsletters and held parties in the evening around her family commitments.

When she was made redundant in February 2010 she saw it as an opportunity for her to grasp her business selling Jamie’s designer-led Jme collection of homeware products with both hands and live her philosophy of ‘the sky’s the limit’.

Last year Jacqui, who is now a manager, had personal sales of £14,000, while those in her downline she is in charge of pulled in £93,400.

She said: “Jamie’s passion and enthusiasm for everything he does is infectious. He wants each and every one of us to succeed. There is so much opportunity with Jamie at Home that instead of looking for another full-time job, I grasped the opportunity to develop my business into something great.

“I am never one to miss an opportunity and now Jamie at Home is my full-time job it’s full steam ahead. I have definitely found a niche where I can be a person again after beings someone’s mum for such a long-time.

“I feel a great sense of achievement having built up a business I could only have dreamt of and, with Jamie behind me, my redundancy has only spurned me on to achieve bigger and better things.

“It’s also brought massive changes for us as a family. I love that fact that work fits around the family and I get to choose what I get out of it.
